The NRMA CareFlight centre at Westmead is a working helicopter base and groups are very welcome to arrange a visit to see the hangars and helicopters and learn about the wonderful work that NRMA CareFlight does in saving lives.
There are two ways in which you can visit the base:
You can arrange for your group to visit the base on weekdays between 10.30 am and 3.30 pm. The running time per visit is approximately 60 minutes. There is no charge for your visit, although to help raise vital funds we do encourage either a gold coin collection or donation from the group. The well known NRMA CareFlight Bears will be available for sale during the visit, as well as other CareFlight merchandise.
You can arrange for your club to hold one of its weekly or monthly meetings at the base and combine it with a dinner.
NRMA CareFlight will set out chairs and tables for a sit-down meal in the hangar and will bring in a caterer to provide a main course, dessert, tea/coffee and soft drinks. Groups can make their own catering arrangements if they wish and can arrange for wine, beer or other alcohol. The recommended start time for a base dinner is 6.30pm.
The helicopter crew will be invited to talk to the guests about their work and to join them for dinner. There is a cost per head for base dinners.
NRMA CareFlight cannot guarantee the presence of the helicopters during a visit, as they may be away on a mission or on essential crew training.
The NRMA CareFlight base is operational from 7 am to dusk every day, so in the event that our helicopters require major maintenance it may be necessary for us to ask you to reschedule your visit. We will endeavour to give you as much notice as possible.
As the operations base for a helicopter medical service, safety precautions apply and smoking is not permitted.
