CareFlight is a renowned critical care retrieval service with bases in four states, a high clinical profile and a significant international research reputation.
We are currently employing retrieval medical officers for our exciting new 10 year contract to service the Top End. The positions are Darwin based and commence January 2012 and onwards.
Every retrieval is conducted with the assistance of an experienced critical care trained nurse. A midwife is available within the retrieval system at all times and paediatric medical assistance is available from Royal Darwin Hospital for neonatal cases. All missions will be overseen by retrieval consultants in Darwin, most of who have many years of retrieval experience. The consultants will be available for advice and, occasionally, to ride along on complex missions. They will also debrief every mission.
Comprehensive initial medical and aviation safety training will be provided. An extensive ongoing education program involving theoretical and practical elements will also be provided. CareFlight currently holds training accreditation with ACEM, ANZCA and CICM. The roster will involve two 12 hour shifts per day and a 24 hour standby shift, in a rolling roster pattern.

Full time positions for 6-12 months are available as well as longer term contracts. Remuneration will be consistent with relevant Public Hospital Medical Officers’ Awards.
