Retrieval Consultants

Darwin

CareFlight is a critical care retrieval service with bases in four states, a high clinical profile and a significant international research reputation.

We are currently employing retrieval consultants for our exciting new ten year contract to service the Top End. The positions are Darwin based. The work involves 24/7 consultant level triage and oversight for the retrieval system. Consultants are also expected to spend some time on the flight roster. Positions commence January 2012 and onwards; comprehensive training will be provided.

Minimum qualifications are:

• Specialist qualification in anaesthesia, emergency medicine or ICU
• Current Australian medical registration
• Completion of EMST or equivalent
• Extensive experience in the management of critically ill patients including trauma
• Ability to safely adapt clinical practice to varied environments
• Basic physical fitness
• Prepared to undertake Helicopter Underwater Escape Training
• Ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures
• Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, with excellent communication skills
• Superior verbal and written communication skills
• Skills in research, education, administration, equipment or other which may be developed into a portfolio of responsibility for CareFlight

Applicants should preferably be resident in or prepared to relocate to Darwin, but fly-in/fly-out will be considered. Remuneration will be consistent with relevant Public Hospital Awards.
