NRMA CareFlight is based in the grounds of Westmead hospital, in the demographic centre of Sydney. HIRT operates out of the Westmead base, which serves as home to both the BK 117-B2 helicopter and the Augusta ‘Power’ helicopter. Both helicopters respond exclusively to incidents involving severely head-injured patients.
