Saturday 19 February was a great day for the new AFL team, the GWS Giants. They played their first two games ever in the NAB Cup, the preseason competition.
A spokesman for the Giants said, “Overall, it was a fantastic night for the club, and even though our boys did it tough on field losing both games, we were delighted with the way the event unfolded.”
CareFlight was invited to be present on the night and it was the first appearance of Doc the CareFlight Bear, our new mascot. Doc made lots of friends with fans, both young and old. Doc also told us he enjoyed the football, and hopes the Giants do better next time! Many of the over 10,000 crowd came to the CareFlight stand and to find out more about the lifesaving work we do.
