Umina’s Andy Moses put aside the horror of his young son’s accident in bringing the reality of how CareFlight helps treat badly injured children and adults during a major Central Coast fundraising event.
Two-year-old Reuben was critically injured when he was hit by a car in Umina in June this year. NSW Ambulance called CareFlight's rapid response critical care team and the helicopter launched immediately from the Westmead base, landing in Umina within 20 minutes.
“This almost immediate response made such a difference for Reuben,” Mr Moses said. “We had the best doctors on site here in Umina treating Reuben and that made such a difference. Doctors have since said Reuben has made a full recovery.”
Andy, with the assistance of Good News Church and the support of local businesses and community, organised a fundraising dinner at Ocean Beach Surf Club, Umina, raising over $4,500 to help CareFlight's medical services.
The dinner had Shane Emmett as master of ceremonies. Entertainment was provided by Central Coast Brass Roots and Peter Irvine, Co-Founder of Gloria Jean’s Coffee gave an inspirational talk about the importance of having vision both for your personal and business lives. The Federal Minister for Robertson, Deborah O’ Neill, and the Member for Wyong, David Harris, gave their support.
