NRMA CareFlight float in Sydney's Christmas Parade – Sunday 25 November, 2007

The NRMA CareFlight float rocketed along George Street on Sunday in Sydney’s first ever Christmas Parade. The Parade, which was modelled on the long-running Macy’s Parade through New York, attracted tens of thousands of people who lined the streets of Sydney to see the floats.

Parade Organisers say up to 50,000 people turned out for the event which featured more than two dozen floats. The NRMA CareFlight float was designed to show what emergency medical retrieval systems could be like in the future, with a rocket powered emergency vehicle fully prepared for emergency work in the galaxy. Sitting at the computer controls for the rocket were NRMA CareFlight Chairman Ian Badham and Events Manager Don Kemble.

The Sydney Christmas Parade made its way through the city, winding down George Street, passing by Town Hall and finishing up with festivities in Santa's Village at Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour.

Sydney City Council touted the Parade, organised by the Sydney Christmas Parade Trust, as "the most spectacular public event since the 2000 Sydney Olympics".
