CareFlight Motorbike Venture – Saturday 19 to Sunday 20 July, 2008

The 2008 Motorbike Venture with Tex and Bundy turned out to be a fantastic event for CareFlight. The morning briefing and breakfast at the CareFlight base went smoothly, even though Bundy didn’t get as much bacon and eggs as she might have liked! Being the only dog on the venture, there was little support for her hunt for food.

The group headed off at 9.30am up Windsor Road and then across to Richmond, with the first stop at Colo Heights Rural Fire Brigade. A light morning tea filled the riders and after a short chat they set off up the Putty Road to the small community of Putty.

The Residents of Putty had prepared a lunch for the group and the camaraderie amongst the riders was already quite noticable. Three more riders had joined the team along the way and they were invited to ride the next leg through to Bulga.

After a quick fuel stop at the Half Way House in Howes Valley, Tex led the venture onto the most exciting part of the ride. The Putty Road from Howes Valley to Bulga is a windy, cliff-lined road that is a real joy for bike riders.

Denman Hotel was the final stop for a well-earned drink and relax. The atmosphere was extremely friendly and most of the discussion amongst the group revolved around their expected participation in next year's event. Overall Motorbike Venture was a great success.
