The Remarkable Rockets Marathon Show – Saturday 12th April, 2008

A marathon effort by Blue Mountains band the Remarkable Rockets has boosted support for the Westmead Children’s Hospital and NRMA CareFlight’s trauma service.

The marathon fundraiser ran for 12 hours in the Old City Bank Piano Bar at the Carrington Hotel in April. Band leader and co-ordinator of the event, John Moran, worked tirelessly in the lead-up and said he was very pleased with the turn-out to see the marathon gig.

NRMA CareFlight Events Manager, Don Kemble, praised the support from the Upper Blue Mountains.

“It was great to see such good support from the community during this marathon gig. It is a credit to the band and the sponsors of the event, including the Carrington Hotel which donated a proportion of their takings from the day.”

“Almost every week our flying trauma team is called to one or two cases in Greater Sydney, including the Mountains, where young people are treated on scene by our specialist doctor and then flown by NRMA CareFlight to the rooftop of the Children’s Hospital. It’s great to see such a fantastic event raise funds for these two worthy causes that work so closely together.”

NRMA CareFlight has also had a close relationship with the Blue Mountains over its 22-year history with many dramatic rescues taking place in and around the area.
