What is Venture?
If you would like a weekend of fun, laughs and the opportunity to visit some incredible parts of the country, come along and join the Venture family.
CareFlight Venture is the collective name for a number of outdoor activities aimed at bringing friends and families together in a fun-filled environment while supporting CareFlight. Venture activities are mostly motor vehicle related and currently consist of 4WD, Caravan and Motorcycle events.
The 4WD event is not a race or rally and we leave log hopping and boulder climbing to those with a lesser sense of self and car preservation. We do however like to have fun, visit new places and make new friends while enjoying the challenges of the driving. The evening theme nights and dinners offer entertainment and a chance to share good company and good food.
Many city residents purchase a four wheel drive with the intent of one day taking off on an adventure holiday to discover the Australian bush and visit exotic locations. A CareFlight 4WD Venture provides a wonderful opportunity to have this experience, but with the knowledge that there is an experienced support team, including NRMA service crew, travelling with you. The roads used are also suitable for all wheel drive vehicles such as Toyota Kluger, Ford Territory and Holden Captiva. We have even had a BMW X5, Hummer and Lexus R330 travel with us and they all coped extremely well, finishing the trips without a scratch. Conditions of Entry (PDF, 13KB)
4WD Venture, Hunter Valley & Stockton Beach – 26 to 28 March, 2010
The first CareFlight 4WD Venture for 2010, this is an awesome chance to experience multiple environments and experiences in the one trip. From rainforest to vast sandy expanses, explore NSW’s impressive wine-producing capital while spiralling through rugged country tracks before tackling the wind-blown dunes of Stockton Beach - the largest continuous mobile sand mass in the state. Join our experienced drivers for a fun-filled family orientated event.
This exclusive 4WD and AWD excursion comes with its own NRMA service vehicle, motel accommodation and great company. If you’ve been on a CareFlight Venture before, this one will exceed all your expectations. If you have never been on a Venture before, this is the ideal opportunity to have the most fun you can have on four wheels while meeting new friends and supporting this lifesaving charity.
Where are we going?
Details are still being finalised but here is a rough idea. The trip starts on Friday morning at the CareFlight base in the grounds of Westmead Hospital, with a BBQ breakfast, briefing and tour of the base. We depart Westmead and head north to the quiet valley of Putty. From Putty we continue along the Commission Road (track) through to the mining town of Singleton. The next day we travel through the upper part of the Hunter Valley via the town of Dungog, then down to the coast where we spend the night at Nelsons Bay. The following morning we drive down Stockton Beach through to Williamtown, finishing at Fighter World before travelling back down the Pacific Highway to Sydney.
Cost
Because this is a fundraising exercise for CareFlight, there is a fundraising component to the registration. Currently we are working on an incentive scheme and assistance packages to help entrants with fundraising for Venture. Firm pricing will be available shortly. The registration fee will still be around $275 per adult and $175 per child between 5 and 15 years old. The registration fee covers accommodation, meals, tours and roadbook. The fundraising component will be in addition to the registration fee.
