An NRMA CareFlight trauma team flew to a park at Granville, in Sydney’s west, to treat an unconscious teenage boy who collapsed at football training this afternoon.
Ambulance officers alerted the NRMA CareFlight doctor to the boy’s plight shortly after 3 pm. and police attended as the helicopter landed at Granville Park.
The doctor teamed with ambulance paramedics to treat the 15-year-old boy, from Wentworthville, who it is believed was still suffering the effects of being knocked out with a head injury while playing in a rugby league school match two days ago.
After stabilisation the boy was taken, under the care of the CareFlight doctor, in a road ambulance to the Westmead Children’s Hospital for further investigation.
He was in a stable condition non arrival at the hospital shortly before 4 pm.
Earlier today, the NRMA CareFlight doctor had flown to a primary school at Mascot, in Sydney’s south-east, where a boy suffered a head injury in a fall.
Teachers reported the boy hit his head on a chair.
After treatment by the NRMA CareFlight doctor the boy was taken by ambulance paramedics to the Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick for observation.
