Bike riding boy injured at Appin

A 10-year-old boy is being flown to hospital by NRMA CareFlight after he was seriously injured at Appin, in Sydney’s south west this afternoon.

The helicopter’s trauma doctor and ambulance paramedics teamed to treat the boy who suffered a badly fractured right leg when his mini-bike was hit by a car.

The NRMA CareFlight doctor landed in a nearby church ground to assist with the stabilization after being alerted to the boy’s plight just before 3.30pm.

The boy is now being flown to the Westmead Children’s Hospital in a stable condition to undergo emergency surgery.
