A Fairfield woman was left in a critical condition after falling over on stairs and hitting her head at her home today.
An NRMA CareFlight trauma team flew to support ambulance paramedics treating the woman at her Harris Street home shortly after 11 am.
The NRMA CareFlight doctor said the woman, believed to be aged in her 60s, was unconscious when emergency teams reached her.
The helicopter landed in a nearby park where police met them and drove the doctor to the house.
The woman was stabilised at the scene and placed on a ventilator to control her breathing.
She was then taken in a road ambulance, under treatment by the crew doctor, to Liverpool Hospital where she remained in a critical condition on arrival just before midday.
