An NRMA CareFlight trauma doctor teamed with ambulance paramedics to treat a man who suffered head injuries when his car hit a wall on the M5 at Bexley, in Sydney’s south, this morning.
Traffic congestion forced the helicopter to land at a nearby oval shortly after 7.30 am where police took the doctor and duty paramedic to the crash at the Bexley Road off-ramp from the motorway.
The NRMA CareFlight doctor said the sole occupant of the vehicle, a man believed to be aged in his 30s, was initially unconscious.
However he regained consciousness and was taken by road ambulance, under treatment to a head injury by the trauma doctor, to St George Hospital where he was in a stable condition on arrival.
