A teenage girl was left unconscious when she was hit by a car after stepping off a school bus at Sackville, in Sydney’s outer north-west, this afternoon.
The NRMA CareFlight doctor said the 15-year-old girl hit the windscreen of the car before she fell back onto Sackville Road.
The girl was unconscious when the NRMA CareFlight team landed at 4.30 pm – just minutes after being alerted to her plight.
The NRMA CareFlight doctor worked with ambulance paramedics to stabilise the girl.
She was given a general aneasthetic and placed on a ventilator to control her breathing before she was placed on board the rescue helicopter for the flight to hospital under full intensive care management.
The girl remained in a very serious but stable condition on arrival at to the Westmead Children’s Hospital at 5.20 pm.
