Ambulance Rescue officers worked for more than half an hour to free a driver who was trapped in his car after a crash at Wetherill Park, in Sydney's west, which killed the driver of the other car this morning.
The two cars crashed at Victoria Street shortly before 8.30am. NRMA CareFlight's trauma team landed at a factory complex just 50 meters from the crash to allow the crew doctor to treat the trapped man as rescue teams worked to free him. The NRMA CareFlight doctor said the 28-year-old man suffered leg, arm and pelvic fractures. The trauma team and ambulance officers also had to treat and assess bystanders who were shaken by witnessing the crash. On release, the injured man was placed on one of NRMA CareFlight's mobile intensive care modules before he was taken in a road ambulance, under treatment by the CareFlight doctor, to Liverpool Hospital. The man was in a serious but stable condition on arrival at Liverpool Hospital and will undergo emergency surgery.ENDS: For further information please call NRMA CareFlight spokesman Ian Badham on 0418 245 748.
