The wreckage of a light plane has been found by NRMA CareFlight on the top of a mountain in rugged terrain north-east of Scone this afternoon.
The helicopter landed at the scene where the NRMA CareFlight doctor confirmed all three occupants of the plane had been killed on impact.
NRMA CareFlight was one of the many aircraft called in by Australian Search & Rescue to search for the missing aircraft.
Overnight another NRMA CareFlight pilot helped AusSAR prepare for the search after hearing a routine report from the plane at about 10 am yesterday (Sunday) after it took off from a refuelling stop at Scone during a planned flight from Sydney to Brisbane.
The NRMA CareFlight doctor said wreckage of the Cessna 206 was spread over a wide area, about 55 km north-east of Scone at a peak at an elevation of about 1,500 metres.
After spotting the wreckage, NRMA CareFlight landed in a clearing about 100 metres from the crash site to allow the crew doctor to determine the fate of the occupants.
