An NRMA CareFlight doctor is teaming with ambulance paramedics to treat an elderly woman who has suffered critical head injuries at Rockdale this afternoon.
Emergency services rushed to Botany Road after the 77-year-old Brighton-le-Sands woman was reported to have been hit by a car at 12.50 pm.
The helicopter landed in an industrial estate 100 metres from the crash site.
The doctor is now working with ambulance paramedics to place the woman in an induced coma on a ventilator to control her breathing.
The woman will be taken by road ambulance, under continuing care from the doctor and paramedics, to St George Hospital.
