A Glenorie man was left unconscious with multiple injuries after his car left the road and hit a tree near his home in Sydney’s outer north-west late today.
The NRMA CareFlight flying trauma team landed at the scene to treat the man minutes after other motorists raised the alarm shortly after 5 pm.
The trauma doctor was joined by ambulance, police and Rural Fire Brigade officers who drove to the crash to help treat the man who was the only occupant of the high-performance car.
The NRMA CareFlight doctor said the 23-year-old man suffered head, back and abdominal injuries in the crash on Old Northern Road near the intersection of Mt View Road.
He was given a general anaesthetic and connected to a ventilator to control his breathing on the helicopter’s mobile intensive care module.
After initial stabilisation the man was flown by NRMA CareFlight to Westmead Hospital where he was in a serious but stable condition on arrival.
