A young boy is recovering in hospital after falling onto his head from a tennis umpire’s chair on a property at Mt Hunter, near Camden, in Sydney’s south-west.
Ambulance paramedics and an NRMA CareFlight rushed to the property off Burragorang Road late yesterday (Tue 21) after being alerted to the boy’s condition which was reported to be deteriorating.
The helicopter landed on the property to allow the NRMA CareFlight doctor and paramedics to examine and treat the boy.
The NRMA CareFlight doctor said the six-year-old boy suffered a closed head injury from the two-metre fall which left him initially impaired.
As a precaution the boy, accompanied by his mother, was flown to the Westmead Children’s Hospital for further neurological assessment and observation.
The boy is expected to be released from the hospital tomorrow (Thu).
The mission continued NRMA CareFlight’s 23-year history of providing medical support to people of Sydney’s south-west.
