A 33yr old Central Coast woman suffered severe head injuries after crashing her car into a tree on Sparks Road near Hue Hue Road, Warnervale this afternoon. A man in the front passenger seat and a 2 year old child in the back seat were also injured.
The single car accident happened just before 1pm.
The NSW Ambulance Service responded the NRMA CareFlight trauma team from Westmead hospital. On arrival the CareFlight crew assisted emergency services with the injured. The CareFlight Doctor assisted the driver who was the most critically injured. She had already been moved into one of the ambulances at the scene.
The child was taken immediately by another ambulance to Gosford Hospital.
The woman was stabilised by ambulance crews and the CareFlight doctor before being loaded on the NRMA CareFlight helicopter and flown to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.
The male passenger, who was the only person trapped in the crash, was later airlifted by Ambulance helicopter to Westmead Hospital. His injuries were described as less critical than those of the woman driver.
The child is believed to be in stable condition.
The woman is in a stable condition and is undergoing further tests at John Hunter Hospital.
