Ermington man hit by truck (Parramatta)

An Ermington man suffered critical head injuries when struck by a cement truck in Parramatta in Sydney’s west today.

Ambulance, police and an NRMA CareFlight trauma team rushed to the man when alerted to his plight at 10.16 am.

NRMA CareFlight landed minutes later in Prince Alfred Park to allow the crew doctor to work with ambulance paramedics in treating the man where he was hit at nearby Church Street.

The NRMA CareFlight doctor said the 70-year-old man suffered head and facial injuries which left him semi-conscious.

The doctor continued to treat the man as he was taken in a road ambulance to Westmead Hospital for further neurosurgical assessment.

The man, who was placed under an induced coma, remained in a critical condition on arrival at the hospital.
