NRMA CAREFLIGHT - setting the record straight

CareFlight is disappointed at the misinformation being communicated about its services.

About CareFlight:

• CareFlight is a not-for-profit charity

• CareFlight is credited with contributing greatly to the aero medical treatment following the treatment and/or transportation of 18,000 patients over 23 years

• CareFlight relies on monetary support from government, community and business

• Under an agreement with the NSW Ambulance Service, CareFlight operates a rapid response critical care trauma helicopter from its base at Westmead, providing treatment for children and adults in the Greater Sydney area, Central Coast, Blue Mountains and Southern Highlands

• Again, under agreement with the NSW Ambulance Service, CareFlight provides doctors to respond state-wide to emergencies, including treatment and transport for patients in the Hunter and New England regions.

Facts about CareFlight fundraising:

Like many charitable organisations, CareFlight relies on fundraising which includes some telemarketing.

The scripts used by the telemarketers, on behalf of CareFlight, do not refer nor imply that CareFlight is the local rescue helicopter service.

Telemarketing calls are monitored so, in the unlikely event a call is perceived by the receiver as misleading or inappropriate, CareFlight can quickly address the issue.

Funds raised via telemarketing go directly into supporting the charitable work and services provided in NSW and the rapid-response critical care helicopter.

With continued support from government, business and the community – including fundraising – CareFlight and its doctors will continue to save even more lives into the future.
