Fall ko's Hurstville woman on harbour cruise (Watsons Bay)

A woman's cruise on Sydney Harbour ended in a hospital bed and an unscheduled landing at Watsons Bay today.

The woman lost her balance and fell over, striking her head on a seat while enjoying harbour views on a family outing.

The NRMA CareFlight rapid response trauma team landed in a park beside the Watsons Bay jetty to meet the boat when it docked following an alert to the Ambulance Service at 3.15 pm.

The NRMA CareFlight doctor said the Hurstville woman, believed to be aged in her 40s, remained unconscious when the boat pulled up at the jetty to allow the medical team, ambulance paramedics and police to board.

The doctor gave the woman a general anaesthetic and placed her on a ventilator to control her breathing.

The doctor and paramedics continued treatment as the woman was taken in a road ambulance to St Vincent's Hospital for neurological examination where she remained in a critical condition on arrival.
