Trauma team flies to ladder fall man at Kurnell

A man suffered head injuries when he plunged 11 metres from a ladder while carrying out repairs at his Kurnell home, in Sydney's south, today.

Ambulance, police and an NRMA CareFlight rapid response critical care team rushed to the man's aid following a "000" call shortly after 11.30 am.

The helicopter landed in the grounds of the nearby Kurnell Primary School to allow the NRMA CareFlight trauma doctor to team with ambulance paramedics treating the man.

The NRMA CareFlight doctor said the 62-year-old man hit his head on a metal railing as he fell to the ground and suffered skull fractures, but remained conscious.

After stabilisation the man was placed on board the NRMA CareFlight helicopter and flown to St George Hospital for further treatment.

The man remained in a serious but stable condition on arrival at the hospital.
