Trauma team flies to fatal car crash at Yarramundi

A Blue Mountains woman was flown to hospital from the scene of a fatal two-vehicle crash at Yarramundi, in Sydney's outer west, this afternoon.

The NRMA CareFlight rapid response critical care team landed at a property adjacent to the crash on Springwood Road, opposite the UTS Conference Centre, at 1 pm.

Ambulance paramedics, police and SES rescue teams responded to the crash between a sedan and a utility.

A young woman was killed and two other people were injured.

The CareFlight doctor teamed with ambulance paramedics in treating a 71-year-old woman, from Winmalee in the Blue Mountains, who was trapped in the car for 30 minutes.

The doctor said the woman suffered chest and internal injuries.

On release the woman was flown by NRMA CareFlight to Westmead Hospital where she was in a serious but stable condition on arrival.

Another male patient was taken by ambulance paramedics to Nepean Hospital.
