A woman was treated by an NRMA CareFlight doctor while she was trapped for half an hour when her car ran across a roundabout and hit a power pole at Doonside, in Sydney's west, tonight.
Ambulance officers alerted the rapid-response trauma team to the crash shortly before 7 pm on Power Street, with the helicopter landing in an adjacent paddock.
The doctor teamed with ambulance paramedics to treat the woman.
The NRMA CareFlight doctor said the crash left the Doonside woman, believed to be aged in her 20s,lapsing in and out of consciousness.
On release the woman was taken under continuing care by the doctor, in a road ambulance, to Westmead Hospital where she was in a serious but stable condition on arrival.
