High speed crash Liverpool Road (Bankstown)

The NRMA CareFlight rapid response critical care medical team responded to a report of a high speed car crash just south of the ‘Meccano Set’ (Intersection of Liverpool Road and Villawood Road) near Bankstown just after 6pm this evening.

When the helicopter landed the doctor and paramedic ran to the scene of the incident and found a 22year old male trapped in a Honda Integra sideways against the pole about 200metres south of the intersection. The car had hit a power pole with such impact that the pole had broken in half.

The man was in and out of consciousness and badly injured. The CareFlight doctor put the man into an induced coma and intubated him to take over his breathing while he was still trapped.

The CareFlight team continued working with ambulance paramedics and fire crews to release the man from the vehicle. He was taken to Liverpool Hospital by road ambulance in the care of the CareFlight medical team.

The CareFlight doctor said the man had suffered head and possible internal injuries and was in a serious but stable condition when they arrived at the Liverpool Emergency Department.
