Push bike riding man injured at Mona Vale

A bicycle rider suffered multiple injuries when he crashed at Mona vale, on Sydney's northern beaches, this afternoon.

Ambulance officers alerted the NRMA CareFlight rapid response trauma team to the man's plight at 3.45 pm.

The helicopter landed at Mona Vale Park where ambulance paramedics brought the man for further treatment by the CareFlight doctor.

The CareFlight doctor said the man, believed to be aged in his late 20s, was injured when the front wheel of his bike came off as he was riding along busy Barrenjoey Road.

The man suffered an initial loss of consciousness, serious facial lacerations, possible spinal injuries and blood loss.

The trauma team is about to airlift the man to Royal North Shore Hospital for further assessment.
