A student was flown to hospital in Newcastle after a fall down stairs left her initially unconscious at Wyong High School, on the Central Coast, today.
Ambulance officers called the NRMA CareFlight rapid response trauma team at 1.30 pm to treat the girl.
The helicopter landed on a oval at the school to allow the CareFlight doctor to team with ambulance paramedics in treating her.
The CareFlight doctor said the 16-year-old girl, from Yarramalong, quickly regained consciousness after falling down some 10 steps at the school.
After stabilisation the teenager was flown by NRMA CareFlight to John Hunter Hospital for further assesment where she remained in a serious but stable condition on arrival.
