Young driver dies and teenage passenger critical

The CareFlight rapid response critical care team flew to Liverpool this evening to a report of a car crashed into a power pole at the corner of Memorial Ave and Kennedy Road. The CareFlight helicopter landed in nearby Island Park, just 200 metres from the crash. Police transported the trauma team to the incident scene.

The male ‘P’ plate driver had died. The CareFlight doctor and paramedics worked together to save the life of the male passenger.

The passenger, believed to be in his late teens, was trapped in the car and rescue crews took 30 minutess to release him. He was in a critical condition. The CareFlight doctor placed him in an induced coma at the scene before intubating him and taking over his breathing.

The man was then taken to Liverpool Hospital by road ambulance, accompanied by the CareFlight specialist team. He suffered head, chest and lower limb injuries.
