Man falls through roof at Arcadia

An elderly man sustained multiple injuries when he fell through a roof at Arcadia, in Sydney’s north-west, today.

Ambulance, police, fire and CareFlight teams rushed to the house in Geebung Place shortly before 2 pm with the helicopter landing in an adjacent paddock.

The CareFlight doctor said the 70-year-old man sustained head, chest and leg injuries, but remained conscious, when he fell three metres through a roof panel he was fixing onto a concrete floor of the shed on his property.

He also told the doctor he walked 50 metres from the shed to his house to phone his wife and then the ambulance.

After stabilisation by ambulance paramedics and the CareFlight doctor the man was taken, under continuing treatment by the doctor, in a road ambulance to Westmead Hospital where he remained in a serious but stable condition on arrival.

The injured man is placed in an ambulance at his Arcadia property.
