Design of the pack is based on the experience gleaned from more than 11,000 rescues, interhospital and international patient transports performed by CareFlight.
Because of the variety of medical missions performed by CareFlight, we require a pack that is rugged, flexible and easy to carry. It must also be large enough to accommodate the medical equipment we need to provide critical care in the field. The CareFlight retrieval pack meets all of these requirements.

Retrieval Pack RETRPAGP (standard) - front and back
The CareFlight Retrieval Pack is of more durable construction than packs that we have used previously. In the past we have replaced the pack that we use in helicopter operations every six months, as they simply wore out. However the new CareFlight Retrieval Pack, although very dirty, did not show any significant signs of wear after six months helicopter use. This results in substantial cost savings, as packs do not have to be replaced as often.
On occasion our doctors are required to carry their retrieval pack for several kilometres through the bush to access some patients. They have found the proper harness system to be far more comfortable than the harness on the packs that we have previously used. The harness system tucks away when not required.

For organisations that may be required to provide medical care in tactical situations, the packs can also be supplied completely in black with no external markings or reflective tape.
