CareFlight is an Australian critical care retrieval service undertaking retrievals between hospitals and from accident scenes, by helicopter, road and fixed wing aircraft. CareFlight has bases in three Australian states, a high clinical profile and a significant international research reputation.
Six, nine or 12 month terms for advanced trainees in Anaesthetics, Intensive Care or Emergency Medicine are available. Positions involve critical care retrievals, both within Australia and internationally, and extensive pre-hospital exposure as part of the world renowned Head Injury Retrieval Trial (HIRT) in Sydney. The positions are based in Sydney with rotations to Orange, 300km west of Sydney, Darwin in the Northern Territory and Cairns in Queensland. Previous transport experience is not required as all necessary training is provided during an intensive induction training program.
We are also seeking expressions of interest for positions based in Darwin in the Northern Territory which rotate to Sydney, commencing in January 2011. These positions mainly involve transfers by turboprop aircraft and jets but also include helicopter operations and pre-hospital and rescue work. Many transfers are from remote Aboriginal communities and areas such as the world famous Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land.
