A 63-year-old woman has been airlifted to hospital in a stable condition after she was hit by a car while cycling in Faulconbridge this morning.

The woman was out for a recreational ride with her husband when the crash happened on the Great Western Highway. Only the female cyclist was injured in the collision.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked at 11.10am, landing in a park at Springwood.

A NSW Ambulance team provided initial treatment and the scene and, under police escort, conveyed the patient to meet the helicopter.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic provided further treatment for the woman, who had suffered facial and pelvic injuries.

The woman was flown to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
