A 22-year-old man has been taken to hospital in serious but stable condition after he suffered multiple injuries when run over by his van when making deliveries in a residential street this morning.

The man was run over and dragged by the vehicle before it came to a halt across the street, leaving him pinned beneath for around 40 minutes.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked to Dundas Valley at 11.45am, landing in a park near the scene.

Ambulance paramedics arrived at scene about the same time as CareFlight’s critical care team. The crews worked together to help the man as he remained under the vehicle.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic provided additional treatment for pelvic, limb and head injuries. An ultrasound was undertaken and blood transfusion provided at the scene.

The emergency teams worked together to safely extricate the man.

CareFlight’s medical team continued treatment in road ambulance as the man was taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
