An 18-year-old male remains in a stable condition after falling onto a reinforcing bar in northern Sydney this afternoon.

The man fell from about three metres, his leg becoming impaled on the steel bar.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was called to the construction site in Lane Cove shortly after 12pm, landing nearby at Mowbray Public School.

Police conveyed the medical team to the scene.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and intensive care paramedic provided treatment for more than an hour and a half to stabilise the patient as he remained pinned.

Meanwhile, Fire & Rescue NSW used specialist cutting equipment to free the man.

NSW Ambulance road crews were also on scene.

CareFlight’s medical team accompanied the patient by road to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
