A 39-year-old man has been winched out of Robin Falls, approximately 120kms south of Darwin, after he fell and broke his ankle earlier today.

It’s understood the man was rock climbing when he slipped and fell a metre down the cliff, hitting his ankle on a ledge.

CareFlight, operating the Top End Medical Retrieval Service on behalf of the Northern Territory Government, sent the NT Helicopter to the falls.

Adelaide River clinic staff provided initial treatment for the man, before CareFlight’s Flight Nurse and Doctor were winched into the falls to continue treatment.

The patient was winched into the helicopter on a stretcher and airlifted to Royal Darwin Hospital in a stable condition.

CareFlight would like to thank bystanders who assisted the team in moving the patient.
