Motorcyclist critical after collision

Sunday 9 July Sydney 5.30pm

A man in his 30s has been taken to hospital in a critical condition following a motorcycle and car collision in Penrith.

It’s understood the man was riding in a group when his motorcycle and a single vehicle were involved in a collision.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was in the air over Sydney when tasked at 3.26pm, landing within seven minutes in an industrial site about 50 metres from the scene. Ambulance crews were also on scene treating the man.

The man had suffered multiple serious injuries, including to the head, leg, chest and pelvis.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic provided a blood transfusion and intubated the man at the scene, placing him in an induced coma to stabilise him.

CareFlight’s medical team provided ongoing treatment for the man as he was transported by road to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
