A man in his 20s has been hit by a car in West Ryde and sustained a serious head injury and lost consciousness.

CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance shortly after 5:00pm and landed five minutes later in Anzac Park, West Ryde, where NSW Police escorted CareFlight’s clinical team to the scene of the incident.

NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment for the man. CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic intubated the patient and placed him in an induced coma to stabilise him at the scene of the incident.

CareFlight’s clinical team continued providing care as the man was taken by road in a critical condition with NSW Ambulance to Westmead Hospital.
