A 25-year-old woman has been knocked unconscious by a horse she was leading from the paddock to stable in a private Glenorie property.

She sustained serious injuries and fractures to her face and was knocked unconscious from the impact.

CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance at 1:50pm and landed 10 minutes later in a nearby paddock where NSW Police escorted the clinical team to the scene of the incident. NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment for the patient.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment on the patient, including an ultrasound. The medical team intubated the patient and placed her in an induced coma to stabilise her.

The patient was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition under ongoing treatment from CareFlight’s clinical team.
