OUR RETRIEVAL TEAMS AND CARE

CareFlight employs over 180 clinical staff.

Our medical personnel are drawn from leading hospital Emergency and Intensive Care Units around Australia – they are always clinically current and operate at the high end of the critical care spectrum.

Flight times for domestic and international retrievals can be quite long. Its imperative to have an experienced team planning, organising, controlling and directing the mission. Core to the team is the on board medical care.

CareFlight International Air Ambulance extends an Australian teaching hospital standard of intensive care to the most remote areas. This level of care is maintained throughout the sometimes difficult journey home.

CareFlight doctors hold specialist qualifications in anaesthesia, intensive care and/or emergency medicine. They are also experienced in managing the critically ill and injured in the out-of-hospital and transport environment.

CareFlight nurses are intensive care and aviation nursing certified. They hold current aircrew certification under the Civil Aviation Regulations.

INTERSTATE AIR AMBULANCE

The majority of our missions are Domestic. With bases in Darwin and Sydney, we have reach to all capital cities without a stop.

LONG HAUL INTERNATIONAL

Our doctors and nurses also conduct a number of extremely lengthy commercial aircraft missions, to and from places as far afield as North America and Europe. These missions may take six days to complete.

Commercial airlines are the most cost-effective means of transporting patients over very long distances. Crew members are staged at stopover points to ensure continuity of care.

Patients requiring intensive life support and ventilation are routinely transported to and from the United States and Europe.
