CareFlight welcomes partnership with Territory Generation
In August 2017 CareFlight welcomed Territory Generation on board as the new major sponsor of the Top End Rescue Helicopter.
The sponsorship delivers $250,000 a year over three years and will help secure the future of the fast long-range AW139 helicopter operating out of CareFlight’s base at Darwin Airport.
CareFlight operates the Top End Medical Retrieval Service on behalf of the Northern Territory Government under an agreement which includes a helicopter rescue service.
Through community support and fundraising, CareFlight was able to upgrade the aircraft in 2014 to the class-leading Agusta-Westland 139 helicopter, which has the size, speed and endurance to meet the considerable challenges of rescue services in the vast distances and varied terrain of the Top End.
Territory Generation Chairman David De Silva said the new partnership reflected the joint mission of both of organisations to keep Territorians safe and well.
“We are the employer of a large number of Territorians working in an industry which requires us to place safety as the No 1 priority,” Mr De Silva said.
“The partnership between Territory Generation and CareFlight is a perfect fit due to our shared values of safety, focus, integrity, respect, teamwork and reliability.
“In addition, both Territory Generation and Careflight operate in all regions of the NT, 24 hours, seven days per week, 365 days of the year, and our work impacts communities Territory-wide.”
CareFlight Northern Operations General Manager Craig Gibbons said the new sponsorship was an important event for all Territorians.
“It is important because we can be absolutely certain that this new sponsorship will help save lives and change lives for many of our fellow Territorians and our visitors,” he said.
Territory Generation’s sponsorship package also includes support for the MediSim emergency trauma training program for rural and remote first responders as well as major event sponsorship for CareFlight Gala Ball fundraiser.
