Jason and Kia’s
A father and daughter’s drive in remote outback takes a terrifying turn.
CareFlight was quickly there to help.
Experience has taught us that rapid medical response at the scene can have a profound effect on patient outcomes, and for their entire family.
Just hours after Debra’s husband Jason and their six-year-old daughter Kia went on a drive in the Northern Territory, she got a call saying CareFlight was on its way to rescue them.
Their car had flipped over. Amazingly, Kia was okay, but Jason was badly injured.
Please donate now so more people like Jason can receive specialist emergency medical care when they need it most.
To reach Jason and Kia, our crew had to wait out one of the Top End’s powerful wet season thunderstorms. In a region prone to widespread flooding, an aeromedical service like ours is often the only way to provide urgent medical assistance.
Once landed, our doctor was able to assess and treat Jason’s injuries and transport him and Kia safely, via helicopter, to Royal Darwin Hospital, where the young family was reunited.
Jason is making a terrific recovery. But the outcome could have been very different if he hadn’t received the treatment he needed, so quickly.
