Charlotte could have lost her leg and her life

Your urgent support can keep us flying to the rescue of others, like Charlotte.

My name is Charlotte and I’m a nurse in Darwin. I was born and raised in country Victoria, but I’ve always had a love for the Top End.

It was on my first big road trip up here that I fell seriously ill.

I wouldn’t have survived without CareFlight. They didn’t just save my life; they changed the course of my life.

What started out as a simple cut on my leg, led to a rare flesh-eating bacterial infection, known as necrotising fasciitis. My life depended on CareFlight getting me to Darwin hospital as quickly as possible.

I spent 3 months in hospital and endured 17 surgeries. For a while it was very touch and go, but eventually I was able to leave and amazingly I walked out on my own two legs.

When I got back home, I made a big life decision: I ditched my journalism degree and enrolled in nursing. I wanted to help save lives too. After completing my degree, I returned to Darwin and now work at the hospital.

I can never thank CareFlight and people like you enough. Thanks to you, I have my life, my leg and my new career.

CareFlight really need our support this Christmas and I know for certain, that your support really does save lives.
Thank you!
