A 67-year-old man has been injured following a collision between his bicycle and a truck at the intersection of Dog Trap Road and Wisemans Ferry Road, Somersby.
The cyclist sustained chest injuries and abrasions to his body.
Earlier in the day, CareFlight’s aeromedical crew had attended to a separate mission involving a 50-year-old male cyclist riding downhill in Pymble. When the crew had transported the first patient to Royal North Shore Hospital, they were tasked to the second cyclist just before 11:00am while they were on the helipad.
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter landed in a paddock nearby the scene of the incident in Somersby where NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment. CareFlight’s specialist doctor and paramedic assessed the patient and treated his chest injuries.
The medical team flew back to Royal North Shore Hospital with the patient who is in a stable condition.
