Why do I need a Will?

Writing a Will allows you to decide how your estate is distributed after your passing. A legal, up-to-date Will is very important because it ensures that your final wishes are carried out and you can provide for the people and causes most important to you.

If you don’t already have a Will, you should consider speaking to a solicitor or the government Public Trustee in your State of Territory.

How do I make a Will?

Wills are precise legal documents which are meant to determine the disbursement of your property according to your wishes. To be sure your assets are distributed as you intend, please seek professional help to prepare or modify your Will. Writing a simple Will should not be expensive.

What types of gifts can I leave in my Will?

  • A general bequest is usually a sum of money or a percentage of the value of your estate
  • A residual bequest includes anything remaining in your estate after specific and general bequests have been paid
  • A specific bequest is a gift of a particular piece of property, such as a house or jewellery
