An 18-year-old man has been taken to Royal North Shore Hospital after he fell two-metres off a rock ledge at Dee Why beach.
It’s understood the man was at the Dee Why Rockpool with a group of friends when he fell, sustaining a significant head injury.
CareFlight’s rapid response helicopter was tasked, landing at the rock pool next to the patient.
NSW Ambulance crews provided initial treatment for the man.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic provided further treatment, intubating the patient and placing him in an induced coma to stabilise him.
CareFlight’s medical team continued to provide treatment for the patient as he was taken by road to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious condition.
NSW Police also attended.
It comes after a busy 24 hours for CareFlight, with the crew attending three incidents yesterday including a car crash on the Pacific Highway near Hornsby where a man had to be extricated from his vehicle.
The man was taken by road to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition under the supervision of CareFlight’s medical crew.
