A 79-year-old man has been airlifted after suffering serious burns at a fire in Glenorie this afternoon.
The man was conducting a burn-off when he became engulfed in flames.
CareFlight’s rapid response helicopter was tasked at 12.34pm, landing a short time later at the property.
NSW Fire & Rescue and Rural Fire Service were quickly on scene to assist, along with SES volunteers and Police.
Ambulance crews provided initial treatment to the patient, who suffered burns to the chest and right side.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic provided additional treatment for the burns and pain.
The man was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
