The Jabiru town oval became a temporary helipad when CareFlight landed at Jabiru to fly out an ill man this morning.
Police were on hand to make sure all was safe for the CareFlight Rescue Helicopter to land just before 7 am.
Landing at the oval instead of the airstrip allowed the crew doctor and flight nurse to more quickly work with staff at the adjacent Jabiru Health Clinic to prepare the man for his transfer.
The man, suffering cardiac complications, remained in a stable condition on landing at Royal Darwin Hospital.
CareFlight operates the Top End Medical Retrieval Service which provides medical rescue and retrieval services to Territorians across the Top End, on behalf of the NT Government.
